It seems kinda silly when you first hear about it. What does it matter if you scrawl “love” across your arms in support of anything? It’s kinda like wear the livestrong bracelets, but at least in that case, the proceeds from buying the bracelet go to a charity.
But today, I have the word love written in huge letters on my arm. I’m usually not into this type of thing, but this is different.
The point of writing love on your arm today is to show your support for teens and others who are depressed and thinking about cutting themselves. I used to cut myself, and sometimes just knowing that someone else cares is a huge help. It’s my hope that someone else who is having a hard time sees the love on my arms and feels a little bit better.
You can check out TWLOHA to learn more. I don’t necessarily believe the religious-related stuff that’s a part of the organization, but I do believe that a kinda gesture is all it takes to help another person sometimes. Love is the movement.
