I have a friend who reads tarot cards. Now, a bit of a disclaimer – I’m not a HUGE believer. I don’t disbelieve either. I feel the same way about anything in the fortune-telling spectrum as I do about a divine being or god; it can’t be proven or disproven, so I just keep an open mind about it.
Occasionally, my friend will read some cards for me. I always find it really clarifying, and in general, it doesn’t tell me what I don’t already know. I’m not going to make major life decisions based on what the cards say, but it does help me work through things in my life.
Last week, I got a quick 3-card reading regarding the new person in my life. I asked:
Should I trust the person in my life right now as much as I want to,
or will I end up getting hurt?
After a day or two, my friend got back to me, and this is what she had to say:
The clear message of the cards is that you will get hurt if you do NOT trust him. You tend to treat all relationships as the same, which means distrust until trust is proven. You have to approach each relationship differently, especially with such different KINDS of people. If you trust him, the likely outcome is a deeper love between you. The outcome of refusing to trust him is heartache and pain.
It’s so reassuring that I’m doing the right thing in trying to grow closer to him. He’s really, really special to me, and I’m going to try to take my friend’s advice and go forward with trust in my heart. It’s a big leap for me to trust someone, but I want that deep love that I see is possible. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this about someone before, and it’s a little scary.
Have you ever had cards read for you? Do you find it helpful? If you’ve never tried it before, I can’t recommend it enough. My friend is offering readings right now for anyone from this site who’s interested! It’s only $10 for a 3-card reading, so it’s totally affordable, and for those of you who want a more in-depth reading, she also has 5-card spreads for $25 and 10-card “Giving and Receiving” energy spreads for $55.
I highly recommend the 5-card reading, especially because she’s generously offered a $5 discount for anyone who mentions my name! It’s a really awesome deal, and I can’t thank her enough for the deal for BMS readers.
If you feel a bit uncomfortable about it, please just drop me a line (rori@betweenmysheets.com) and I can introduce you or talk to you more about the process and my personal experiences. Otherwise, feel free to email ReadingTheCards-at-gmail.com to schedule your reading (don’t forget to mention that you’re a friend of Rori’s for $5 off a 5-card reading!).
Oh…and *hint hint* you might want to check back over the next few days for you chance to win a reading for FREE!

I actually read tarot cards. Have for years now.
Tarot cards are a remarkable tool and they often guide us in
the right direction. Use them as a guide and they will
never steer you wrong. But you need to know that while they
do not ‘set’ the future, but give you glimpses into it depending
on which path is chosen.
I used to do it for myself. and runes, too. i had it done by a “professional” once but i didn’t get a good feeling on her.
do you have to ask her a question, or can she just do something in general?
Sexy @ Forty – That’s an important thing to remember…tarot cards are less about fate and more about glimpses of possible outcomes.
Lilly – I think that’s an important part of it too, not every person will have a good experience with every reader. My friend has talked a lot about how she hasn’t connected well with certain decks of cards. I’ve always gone the “ask a question” route with her, but I’m sure she does more general readings too if you ask!
I pretty much feel the same way you do about readings. Besides what is the worst that could happen. For whatever reason, I am glad that you are feeling self-confident enough to take a chance. Best wishes.
I wonder if the tarot reader is who I think it might be? I’m totally going to ask you later if I remember.
Oh, and yes for the regular readers. It is me.
