Why Wasn’t I On Your List
Although everyone has been extremely graceful about it, I feel like I’ve hurt some feelings by not including certain bloggers on my Top Sexy Bloggers list. I take this very much to heart, and Daddy will tell you - I care deeply (perhaps too deeply sometimes) about how other people feel.
I did not, by any means, leave anyone off the list because I thought they weren’t good bloggers. I did receive over 100 nominations when it was all said and done. I did choose to not include password-protected blogs; although I’m sure many of these bloggers would give passwords to people legitimately interested, I know that a lot of readers prefer anonymity. I wanted to create a list that everyone could read, even if they didn’t want to give up their email/name to ask for a password.
I did get a few submissions for websites that weren’t really blogs, in my opinion. To me, a blog is something more than a list of links or a bunch of affiliate porn postings. Those sites certainly have their place in this community, but not really what I was looking for in terms of this list.
I also got some submissions that didn’t have websites attached to them. I have a really busy schedule and it was impossible for me to take even more time to try to search for a blogger by name, try to find a URL to go with the pseudonym. So, if the nominations didn’t come with links, and I couldn’t find them quickly, they didn’t make the list.
And after I weeded out those I’ve listed above…I actually had a few less than 100 and added some of my own nominations, for people that no one else nominated. If I missed anyone that was nominated and that did not fall into the “not a blog” or “password protected” or “no link” categories, I sincerely apologize. I am def not used to handling this many comments and emails!
The biggest reason that people didn’t make this list, though? I didn’t know about them! I try to read lots of different blogs every day, but when you start going through the blogrolls on other people’s sites, you can get lost for hours and hours and hours and days…Plus, because I’m a straight, submissive female, the blogs I tend to read are written by straight individuals, with a heavy lean toward blogs with a BDSM flair.
I realize, though that there are tons of awesome blogs out there that fall into categories not falling in line automatically with my personal preferences, and like I said, there are enough blogs out there that you can get lost for days. That’s why I asked for nominations in the first place. I found a lot of amazing bloggers through your nominations, and the overwhelming response that I’ve gotten from others is that there are tons of bloggers on this list that they didn’t know about. Everyone is finding new bloggers, and, I hope, introducing themselves.
So, please, please, please…if I did not include your blog (or someone else’s blog you love) on my list, leave and comment and promote yourself or that blogger you love! Let use know about you and your blog - we’d love to visit. This list is not about leaving people out - it is about including people. That’s why I left #100 blank - so that everyone could be included.
I hope to make this an annual event, and by leaving a comment, I’ll know about your blog for next year. Hope this post clears everything up, and I hope no one’s egos were bruised by my highly unqualified attempt at putting together a Sex Blogger list.

September 5th, 2008 at 11:25 pmYou can’t please everyone. You just can’t.
…and I really do think you bent over backwards to accommodate as many pple as you could.
*hugs*
September 6th, 2008 at 5:05 amI agree, you can’t please them all.
It’s a list of 100….not a list of everyone.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:23 pmThanks for doing a list at all. You’ve given me a lot to explore.
September 6th, 2008 at 4:43 pmI think its a great list and there is no way you could list all the amazing folks out there!
September 7th, 2008 at 1:30 amBest,
Goose
I would like to recommend a blog by a woman calling herself Kayar Silkenvoice (silkenvoice.blogspot.com) for your next Top 100 list. I’ve randomly sampled the blogs on your list that I was not already familiar with and none of them seems to be quite like hers. She writes and records erotica — so yes, she is a sex blogger — but more, she writes from a deeply personal point of view about love and sensuality and polyamory and sexual politics. I find her quite brilliant, actually, and a talented photographer as well. Do look her up. -Ambrosia
September 7th, 2008 at 4:15 amOh, I wouldn’t worry too much. You have to set a limit on numbers somewhere along the line as “An inexhaustive list of any old sex blogger, you name ‘em, they’re on it” just doesn’t have the same cachet.

Hi!
September 8th, 2008 at 9:44 pmI think your problem was in using the title “100 Best Sex Bloggers”. Looking at your methodology, maybe “100 of my favourite sex blogs” would have been more appropriate - I can think of at least four huge blogs that have passed you by.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:10 pmI wasn’t insulted — as you say, you didn’t know about me. I hope you’ll check out my blog about sex & aging –

September 10th, 2008 at 8:01 pmI have to agree with Joan and some of the others. There’s just no way to expect anyone one person to know about ALL the blogs. I figure I have no one to blame but myself. that’ll teach me not to stump for myself! I do, however, know, read, and respect several people on the list, so for now I’m quite happy to be part of the community and start cueing up for next year. Looks like I’ve got some reading (and writing) to do!
September 11th, 2008 at 4:14 amMay I recommend my blog, Naked Chicks on Post-it Notes.
I’m not quite sure where it fits as a sex blog or a porn blog or whatever.
September 11th, 2008 at 12:08 pmHello,
Thank you for compiling this list. It’s good to know there are more of us out there. I’m not sure if your list includes bloggers of Color who write about the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, class and sex and sexual health. I find that we are often forgotten (sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally) and so I thank you for giving us the opportunity to shamelessly plug ourselves.
Below are links to bloggers of Color who write about identity, history and sex/uality:

I think it is a great list and am looking forward to visiting all the blogs. I nominated a few that got on. You can’t include everyone, so if some were left out someone should have nominated them.

December 10th, 2008 at 3:54 amI just got into blogging in the last few months. I actually used your list as a springboard for who I wanted to follow. I went through all of them and chose my favorites. You can’t please everyone and I think you did a superb job!!
