Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries about guest posts and sponsored posts, so I thought it might be helpful to tell y’all what I’m looking for.
I love posting high-quality guest posts from fans, readers, other sex bloggers, and even companies. If you want to write a guest post, here are the guidelines to follow:
- Include a name you want associated with the post. It can be a pen name or just a first name, but I want to publish posts from Bob with ABC Sex Toy Store, not just ABC Sex Toy Store. (Trust me…humanizing your brand is actually a very good thing!)
- Include a bio. At the end of your post, there should be one to three sentences about who you are and what you (or your company) does. It’s a reminder to the reader to check out your site.
- Read my site before you submit a post. I say no to guest posts that aren’t a good fit. My readers are typically well-educated, sexual, and fun. I don’t want boring posts that aren’t helpful or that are super generic. Really basic, uninteresting, 101-level posts WILL be rejected.
- Write about specific topics, not about your product or site. I do not post information that is super promotional or press-release-y UNLESS you are a non-profit or non-commercial site in some way that is very beneficial to my readers.
- Link to your own site, but within reason. If every other sentence includes a link, I’m probably going to say no to your post. Please only link to your own site in the bio line and where it is SUPER relevant within the post itself. Props if you find relevant places in your own content to link back to posts that are already on my site.
- Proofread before you submit. I’m the queen of typos and totally understand when a few sneak into your writing. I shouldn’t have to do tons of editing work, though.
- Do not link to the following sites: escort services, sites promoting pills or oral enhancers (unless approved by the USFDA), discriminatory or otherwise offensive sites (and believe me, it takes a lot to offend me!), sites that redirect, sites that promote anything illegal – if you have a question about your site, just ask!
- Only send me 100% unique content. If the post has already been published elsewhere or if you’ve sent it to other bloggers for consideration, I’m not interested.
- Send your complete guest post to rori-at-betweenmysheets.com. I prefer to get finished guest posts rather than just inquiries, but if you have a few ideas, you can shoot me an email before spending time writing the post. Please COPY AND PASTE the proposed guest post into the body of your email. I don’t open attachments from people I don’t know.
And now onto the second topic: Sponsored Posts
A sponsored post is essentially a guest post that I write for you and post on my own site. It is similar to a review in that I’ll link back to your site, but the topic doesn’t necessarily have to be a review. Some things that are important to note before emailing me about sponsored posts:
- I do not write sponsored posts for free. If you want me to talk about your site, product, blog post, etc., you’re going to have to pay me for that promotion. The EXCEPTION is if you 1) are a non-profit, 2) do something that EXTREMELY unusual and cool, or 3) we have a working relationship or friendship already (duel back-scratching is always awesome!). If you want free promotion, in most cases, you have to write your own post (see above).
- Sponsored posts are clearly marked as sponsored posts. I believe in full transparency. My readers deserve it!
- You’re welcome to suggest topics. I’m a writer, so I can come up with my own post ideas, but if you’re hoping for a specific topic, I’m open to suggestions.
- Price depends on what you’re looking for. Sponsored posts start at $50 per post, but it depends on topic, length, number of links, etc. When you email me, tell me about your budget and what you ideally want in a sponsored post.
- Yes you can sponsor an older post. Maybe. Email me with the specific post that interest you (rori-at-betweenmysheets.com).
